City of Berkley Invites Community Members for All-ages Fun at Annual CruiseFest on Aug. 18

The City of Berkley is inviting community members of all ages to its 27th annual CruiseFest on Friday, Aug. 18.

The event will feature a one-hour classic car parade that starts at 6:30 p.m. on 12 Mile Road and travels west from Woodward Avenue to Greenfield Road.

Following the parade around 7:30 p.m., musical guest Denise Davis and the Motor City Sensations will entertain attendees with signature R&B, blues, Motown and classic sounds at 12 Mile Road and Robina Avenue.

IKEA also will offer all-ages games and goodies at three outdoor stations along 12 Mile Road.

"Bringing classic cars to the streets and smiles to faces, CruiseFest is always an incredible celebration of community,” said Theresa McArleton, Berkley parks and recreation director. “We’re looking forward to again seeing friends, loved ones and neighbors gather to enjoy an evening of fun for everyone.”

Wrapping up the evening, the Berkley Parks and Recreation Department will host an outdoor screening of the movie “Ghostbusters” at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Neighbor’s Shoppe, 2833 12 Mile Road. IKEA will provide a variety of “Cruise in Comfort” seating for the film as well as seating near the stage for the concert. These seats are free and available to anyone.

"We are proud to play a role in making this experience more enjoyable,” IKEA Loyalty Manager Amanda Preston said. “With our support, we hope to create unforgettable memories for all who attend.”
