City Clerk's Office

ATTN Berkley Residents/Businesses:
City Hall is now in Phase 3: Maintenance of the City's COVID-19 recovery and reopening process. All of the above practices will be determined by CDC, State, and County guidelines, and may be altered if and when needed.

Starting, October 6, 2020, City Hall will be open to the public during normal working business hours (Note: Social distancing measures are in place at City Hall; You may experience a longer wait time. If you are turning in any city-related documents or materials, please be sure to have the paperwork filled out ahead of time). City Hall hours are as follows:

  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5 PM
  • (Closed from 1-2 PM every day)

Accessing many of our City Hall services CAN BE DONE via phone, email, through a dropbox submission, or US mail.

For the Clerk's Office, our services can be accessed in the following ways:

  • Elections Related Business:
    • In-person (Note: Social distancing measures are in place at City Hall; You may experience a longer wait time. If you are turning in any city-related documents or materials, please be sure to have the paperwork filled out ahead of time)
    • Email the Clerk's Office at clerk@berkleymich.net.
    • Call the Clerk's Office at 248-658-3310.
    • Utilizing the City Hall dropbox located on the East side of City Hall to the right of the entrance door.
    • Return by US mail (City of Berkley Clerk's Office; 3338 Coolidge Hwy Berkley, MI 48072).
    • Curbside Service By Appointment (Residents MUST call ahead to confirm a date and time with staff).
  • FOIA:
    • In-person (Note: Social distancing measures are in place at City Hall; You may experience a longer wait time. If you are turning in any city-related documents or materials, please be sure to have the paperwork filled out ahead of time)
    • Email the Clerk's Office at clerk@berkleymich.net.
    • Call the Clerk's Office at 248-658-3310.
    • Utilizing the City Hall dropbox located on the East side of City Hall to the right of the entrance door.
    • Return by US mail (City of Berkley Clerk's Office; 3338 Coolidge Hwy Berkley, MI 48072).
    • By Appointment - FOIA in-person meetings will be determined on a case-by-case basis (Residents MUST call ahead to confirm a date and time with staff).
      • Appointments are scheduled in 15-minute intervals and will be with the Clerk's Office ONLY. You will NOT be able to meet with another department unless you have made an appointment. 
  • Pet Licenses:

About the City Clerk's Office
Location: City Hall, 3338 Coolidge Highway, Berkley MI  48072

The City Clerk's Office serves as the official record keeper for City Council, attends all council meetings, and is the custodian of all legal documents and records pertaining to the city's department operations.

The Clerk conducts all elections according to state and federal laws and maintains Berkley's qualified voter files. In line with the elections process, the Clerk procures and maintains the required election equipment to meet the needs of Berkley voters and serves as the Freedom of Information Act Coordinator for the city.

All ordinances, council meeting minutes and records for 
board and commission appointments are maintained by the City Clerks Office.
