Berkley, MI - November 18, 2021 - During the COVID-19 shutdown, when people needed one another the most, Berkley residents were inspired to help the community and lend a hand. Thus, the Berkley Cares Food Pantry was born.

The idea was sparked by the little food pantry which stands alone on 12 Mile Rd. right in front of Berkley First. When the pandemic hit, it was hard to keep that little pantry filled with food. Seeing the severity of food insecurity in the area, coupled with the continued impact on food resources because of the pandemic, Berkley residents, Liz Petry, and Jessica and Casey Worrall came together to create the Berkley Cares Food Pantry.

Headquartered within the Berkley First Church located at 2820 12 Mile Rd., this full-service pantry helps to address the growing need for food assistance in Berkley and Oakland County.

This pantry serves individuals, families, adults, seniors, the displaced community, the unemployed, and the working poor. Everyone is treated with integrity and compassion. No questions asked and no judgment is given.
