Local Disaster Relief Continues; Red Cross Responds to Home Fires in Michigan

27 Home Fire Responses in Six Days

LANSING, MI – As the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) continues to affect Michigan communities, the American Red Cross is still actively providing care and comfort for people affected by home fires. In accordance with Executive Orders issued by Governor Whitmer, the Red Cross has taken steps to ensure the safety of staff while providing our vital services.

“During COVID-19 our mission remains the same. How we perform the mission has changed to protect the health and safety of Red Cross workers as well as fire victims and first responders,” said Mary Lynn Foster, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross, Michigan Region.

As an emergency preparedness organization, the Red Cross will continue to align operational strategy with public health and emergency management. We want to make sure that people continue to turn to the Red Cross after experiencing a disaster.
