City Updates

CITY OFFICES ARE CLOSED FOR MEMORIAL DAY (5/30/22)
City Offices Closed in Observance of Memorial Day.  As a result, most City departments will not be open. 

Public Safety will continue to provide 24-hour operations and support to the community.


MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES
On Memorial Day, Berkley American Legion Stanley J. Fons Post 374 will be conducting a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 31, 2021, at 11:00 am AND at 12:00 pm.

The ceremony will be outside at the City Hall gazebo (3338 Coolidge Hwy.).

Following the ceremony, the Legion will host another ceremony at noon at the Berkley American Legion (2079 Twelve Mile Rd, Berkley, MI 48072). 

This is in partnership with the Daughters of the American Revolution and The Royal Canadian Legion representatives.

BERKLEY PLANNING COMMISSION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, in accordance with Section 138-528 and Section 30-806 of the Berkley City Code, that there will be a meeting of the Berkley Planning Commission to be held at the City of Berkley in the Council Chambers, 3338 Coolidge Hwy, Berkley Michigan, on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 7:10 pm, or as near thereto as the matter may be reached.

Seven Point Dispensing of Michigan, on behalf of The Greenside Trust, is requesting a sketch plan for the renovation of the existing building to be a retail marihuana dispensary at 28557 Woodward Avenue, Parcel #25-17-257-025, associated parking in the existing parking lot at Parcel #25-17-257-008, and proposed parking at 1299 Wiltshire Road, Parcel #25-17-257-007, and 1276 Franklin Road, Parcel #25- 17-257-023.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
BERKLEY ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS

Notice is hereby given, that there will be a meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals to be held at the City of Berkley in the Council Chambers, 3338 Coolidge, Berkley, Michigan on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 7:03 p.m. or as near thereto as the matter may be reached.

Brian Tomina, on behalf of Stella’s Marketplace, LLC, 2485 Coolidge Highway, Parcel #25-18-427-038, west side of Coolidge Highway, between Catalpa Drive and Sunnyknoll Avenue, is requesting a dimensional variance to construct wall signs for 5 tenants in a multi-tenant building that would increase the total area of all wall signs to more than 100 square feet on the building façade facing Coolidge Highway and to construct 5 identification signs larger than 6 sq. ft. facing the rear parking lot.

  1. The total area of all roof signs on the building would be 234 sq. ft.
  2. Areas of the 5 identification signs would be 36 sq. ft., 16 sq. ft., 16 sq. ft., 16 sq. ft., and 16 sq. ft.
