If you pay your taxes yourself and do not receive a bill call the Clerk/Treasurer’s office at 248-658-3310.  If your mortgage company pays your taxes and you receive a tax bill – call the Clerk/Treasurer’s office.

In order to ensure that your tax bill is correctly mailed, please let us know if:

  • you have refinanced and changed your mortgage company
  • your mortgage was sold to another lender
  • your mortgage has been paid off
  • you sell your home

Important!  Do not rely on your mortgage company or the new or former owner to relay this information.

State law holds the homeowner responsible for making sure taxes are paid, so do what you can to see that tax bills are properly directed.

Look Up Your Taxes at City Hall

A public-use computer is now available for residents and visitors.  The computer, located across from the City Manager's office, is restricted to looking up tax and assessing information.

Estimate Your Taxes

The State of Michigan Department of Treasury web site has a helpful tool to use in estimating your property taxes.  Please note this can only be used as an estimate and that they will not have the current tax rates.  To visit this site, check here.

For current tax rate information, check here.

Defer Your Taxes

You can delay payment of your summer 2008 tax bill without penalty or interest until February 16, 2009 if your total household income in 2007 did not exceed $40,000 and you meet one of the following criteria:

  • Senior citizens (62 years of age or older), including the unmarried surviving spouse of a person who was 62 years of age or older at the time of death
  • Paraplegic or Quadriplegic
  • Eligible Serviceperson, Eligible Veteran, Eligible Widow or Widower
  • Blind Person
  • Totally and Permanently Disabled

Proof of total prior year household income must be shown with a copy of your signed MI 1040CR (Homestead Property Tax Credit Claim). Applications for the deferment must be filed at the Treasurer's Office on or before September 15th of each year.

Housebound seniors may call the Treasurer’s Office at 248-658-3310 and schedule an appointment for someone to come to their house to assist them with their deferment.
