Digital TV 2009
Do you get your TV signal from rabbit ears or a rooftop antennae? If so, you need to know about the DTV Transition and Coupon Program.
At midnight on February 17, 2009 television stations in the United States will switch from analog to 100% digital broadcasting. This change affects viewers with analog TV sets who do not subscribe to cable, satellite or other pay TV service.
To continue viewing programs, you will have to do one of the following:
- Keep your existing analog TV and purchase a TV converter box,
- Connect to cable, satellite or other pay service, or
- Purchase a television with a digital tuner
The federal government has established a Coupon Program providing discount coupons for up to two converter boxes per household.
Important! If you apply for a coupon, please note that they have a 90-day expiration date.
