November 30, 2017, the City of Berkley is hosting an informational event to help residents and home owners manage rain water on private property. The event will be held at 6:30 PM at the Berkley Public Library, 3155 Coolidge Hwy.

Christine Scott, of Paul C. Scott & Sons Plumbing, will provide information about the use of check valves and how they can mitigate basement flooding. Ms. Scott will discuss the installation process, maintenance procedures and the benefits available to those who have them.

Joshua Rubin, CEO of Michigan Rain Barrel Company, will discuss how rain barrels can move excess water away the home’s foundation, reduce storm water run-off and other benefits rain barrels provide. A representative from the Clinton River Watershed Council will also be on hand to answer questions and discuss the benefits of rain barrel use.

For a limited time, Berkley residents can pre-order rain barrels from the Michigan Rain Barrel Company for $53.00 each. To pre-order, visit www.mirainbarrel.com/signup.

NOTE:  Pre-ordered rain barrels must be picked up at the Rain Water Management event on November 30, 2017. The city will not deliver pre-ordered items. Remember to pick up pre-ordered barrels at the event on November 30th.
