Berkley, MI - Aug 26, 2020 - At long last, the City of Berkley will begin its two-year-long project of municipal road improvements to numerous local and residential streets. This comes following the voter-approved Capital Improvement Project Millage for Road/Infrastructure in November 2018. With the City’s goal of “Building a Better Berkely,” the project includes the removal and replacement of various sections of concrete pavement and curbs.

City Council approved the bid contract for this project with Italia Contruction Inc. in April 2020. With this, Public Works and the City’s consulting engineers, Hubbell, Roth & Clark, Inc. (HRC), conducted a pre-construction meeting with the contractor in July to review the scope and procedural process of the project.

The first half of the project is slated to begin the week of August 31, 2020, and ends in November 2020. It will also begin on the South-side section of the City and move towards the North-side section (see map below). The decision to start within those sections of the City is to bypass the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) 12-Mile Road Resurfacing Project.
