City of Berkley Kicks off Master Plan Process

Berkley, MI – February 12, 2020 – The City of Berkley has officially kicked off its Master Plan process by hosting the first Master Plan Steering Committee on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

The Master Plan Steering Committee will be working alongside City staff, the Planning Commission, and in consultation with Carlisle Wortman & Associates in order to best represent the goals and vision of the community, as well as, assisting to engage business owners, residents, surrounding communities, and other stakeholders that encompass the area. 

City Council approved the formation of the Master Plan Steering Committee, which is comprised of 15 appointed individuals from Berkley city staff, city council, planning commission, zoning board of appeals, other boards and commissions, as well as, a student from Berkley High School and residents-at-large. The group’s establishment is to represent a diversity of professional backgrounds, experience in the community, and a geographic spread across Berkley to ensure the Master Plan benefits and serves the community as a whole.

The City is also encouraging all residents to be on the lookout for upcoming community engagement events where citizens can share their thoughts on what the future of Berkley should be.
