Steven W. Baker, Councilmember

Steve Baker was elected to City Council in November 2009. He and his wife Nicole have lived in Berkley for well over twenty years. Steve leads the IT strategy and innovation agenda for DTE Energy, where he oversees IT-related interaction and outreach, strategic alignment and integration, and innovation and feasibility on behalf of the company.

Steve holds a bachelors of science degree in computer science and masters of science in software engineering from Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan. He is a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Computing Professional (CCP), and also a published author, conference speaker, and Six-Sigma Black Belt candidate.

Mr. Baker has been active in the following organizations:

Jack Blanchard, Councilmember

Jack Blanchard

Jack Blanchard was appointed to the City Council in December 2011. He and his wife Barbara have lived in the city since 1978. Their two sons graduated from Berkley High and now have two grandchildren who attend Berkley Schools. Jack received a Bachelors of Science degree from Southern Illinois University.

He retired from the United States Army Reserve in 1995 after serving 30 years. Jack also retired from General Motors Powertrain Engineering. He currently works as a consultant with Captains Three Marine Services on diesel engines and as a GM Fleet Product Specialist.

Jack has been active in the following organizations:

  • International Armed Forces Council
  • Great Lakes Captains Association
  • Berkley Public Safety as a volunteer fire fighter for 27 years

Alan H. Kideckel

Alan H. Kideckel was elected to City Council in November 2011. He and his late wife Andrea purchased their first home in Berkley over 24 years ago. Alan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Wayne State University. Alan has had his Life, Health and Disability Insurance license since 1984. He received his Property and Casualty Insurance license in 2013. He is currently a Service Executive for Ricoh.

Tina Edgar

Tina Edgar was elected to the City Council in November 2013.  She and her late husband, Stephen, purchased their home in Berkley's Oakland Manor in 1998 where she still resides.  Tina holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Wayne State University and a Master of Arts from Central Michigan University.  Tina has recently retired from a sixteen year teaching position at Lakeview High School in Saint Clair Shores.  She taught English at all four levels and Humanities to upper classmen.

Eileen Steadman, Councilmember

Eileen Steadman

Eileen Steadman has been a resident of Berkley since 1976. She is the mother of four daughters, all graduates of Berkley High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and her master's degree from Oakland University. She taught special education classes in the Royal Oak School district, first at the high school level, then middle school, then preschool. When she retired she ran a parent-toddler program for children age birth to three with mild to moderate delays where parents brought their children to school. The program won an award for Best Program in Michigan from the Michigan Speech and Hearing Association.

Eileen was first elected to city council in 1997 and has been serving ever since. Before becoming involved with the City of Berkley, she was active in the Rogers School PTA and Berkley Area PTA Council, serving as president of both. She has served on the Planning Commission and various city committees. She is currently the Council liaison to the Library Board and the Beautification Committee. She is also a member of the ad hoc committee to "reimagine city hall" due to the relocation of our court to Royal Oak. During her tenure on the City Council, she has been a part of making decisions that led to the City of Berkley receiving numerous awards, including the recent selection by Money Magazine as # 28 out of the top fifty best places to live in America for 2015, the only city in Michigan to be named.

Dan Terbrack, Councilmember

Dan Terbrack

Dan Terbrack is a third generation Berkley resident, elected to the City Council in 2007. In 2009, he was appointed Mayor Pro Tem. Dan holds a Bachelor's Degree in secondary education and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision. Dan taught in both public and private schools for 6 years before becoming principal at Our Lady of La Salette School and Academy in Berkley.

Dan has been a Berkley resident his entire life, and in 2004 bought a home in Berkley with his wife, Jacqueline. Dan and Jacqueline have two young daughters, Addison and Emma.

Dan has been an active member in the following groups and organizations:
