National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month and the City of Berkley urges residents to be ready before emergencies and disasters occur. This is a time when individuals, families, businesses and communities can engage in preparedness actions at home, in the workplace, at school and in places of worship. This year’s theme is “Disasters Don’t Plan Ahead, You Can.”


As witnessed in recent media coverage of the hurricanes in Texas and Florida, neighbors, family and friends become first responders when natural and other disasters occur. The question to ask yourself is: “Am I ready?” If the answer is “No”, get ready by assembling an emergency preparedness kit for yourself and your family.
